Deccan Chargers won the 12th match of IPL 2010 by defeating Kings XI Punjab by 6 runs. After winning the toss Kumar Sangakkarra decide to field first. His decision was completely accepted by Deccan Chargers batsmen who started really well.
Adam Gilchrist and VVS Laxman had started the game really well for Deccan. Adam Gilchrist played a blistering innings of 33 runs of just 12 balls. Herschelle Gibbs also played a good role by building a partnership with Gilchrist. VVS Laxman was playing very cautiously until he had to retire from the match. Deccan was going really well when Symonds reached the score. They managed to score 100 runs in 10 overs and at that stage they might think of 200 mark. Symond hit three fours and three sixes in his 38 ball 53. Yuvraj Singh was the pick of the bowlers for Kings XI Punjab. Three quick wickets had decreased the run rate of Deccan Chargers to some extent. Even though wickets felled at regular intervals, Symonds took the responsibility to his own shoulder and helped Deccan to post a total of 170 runs with the loss of 7 wickets.
Chasing 171 runs, Kings XI Punjab was never in the hunt and lost wickets at regular intervals. Punjab was never in the hunt until Pathan reached the crease. Irfan Pathan scored a blistering 60 of just 29 balls. Punjab was 104/7 in 17 overs when Pathan reached the crease and started the show. But Irfan Pathans late innings was not able to lift up a win for Kings XI Punjab. Andrew Symonds and Chaminda Vaas showed some brilliant bowling and reduced there length of path of victory. In the end Punjab just managed to score 164 runs with the loss of 8 wickets.
