Rajasthan Royals won the 19th match of the IPL 2010 by defeating Kings XI Punjab by 31 runs. Adam Voges was declared Man of the Match for his 45 run innings off just 24 deliveries. Punjab became the first team to post four defeats in this season of IPL.
Kumar Sangakkara after winning the toss had made Rajasthan to bat first. Sangakkara and his men were in full control of the game till Adam Voges came into the crease. Earlier Michael Lumb and Naman Ojha made a good opening stand of 35 runs which is the highest for them in this season of IPL. Yusuf Pathan again went disappointed. Yususf Pathan scored 28 runs in quick time before fell victim to Srivastav. Michael Lumb scored 41 off 30 balls and Faiz Fazal was too impressive with his 45 run innings. Voges hit five fours and two sixes in his 24 ball innings. In the end Rajasthan posted a total of 183 for the loss of 5 wickets.
Returning to defend the total, Rajasthan Royals put a good effort to restrict Kings XI Punjab for 152 runs in 19.1 overs and registered their second victory in IPL 2010. Bisla and Ravi Bopara played really well. But their middle order collapsed. Bisla scored 35 runs off just 18 deliveries while Bopara scored 25. Sangakkara tried to rescue his team and scored 29 runs but it went in vane. The game was always controlled by Rajasthan Royals. Shaun Tait picked up three wickets for just 22 runs. Yusuf Pathan and Trivedi scalped two each. Yuvraj Singh’s and Mohammed Kaif’s bad form continued. Punjab needs these two players to rise to the occasion if they have to live their dream to continue in the tournament. In the end Punjab fell 31 run short of Royals total and ended the proceedings at 152 in19.2 overs. With this win Rajasthan Royals reached the fifth spot in the points table for this season of IPL.
