Mumbai Indians won the 17th match of the IPL 2010 against Kolkata Knight Riders by seven wickets. After winning the toss Saurav Ganguly decided to bat first. The team was in full confidence in the presence of Chris Gayle. But the little master guided his team to victory.
Skipper Sourav Ganguly and Chris Gayle opened the innings for Kolkata Knight Riders. They put on a solid 70 run partnership. Ganguly scored 31 runs off 34 balls in which he hit five fours. These two batsmen were separated in the 11th over bowled by Harbhajan. After the dismissal of Ganguly, Owais Shah accompanied Chris Gayle. Chris Gayle was standing strong at the other end. Chris Gayle scored 75 runs off 60 balls and batted throughout the innings. He hit seven fours and two sixes. Owais Shah and Chris Gayle put on a solid 82 run second wicket partnership to help Knight Riders post a total of 155 runs. Mumbai bowlers bowled really well to restrict Gayle. Most of the deliveries to him was either slow or yorkers. If the bowler missed the length he would have freed his arms.
Sachin and Shikhar Dhawan started the procedure for Mumbai Indians really well. Both these batsmen started attacking the bowlers from the very first over itself. They have scored 24 runs in two overs. Shikhar Dhawan hit a 21 ball 23 with the help of four boundaries. Mumbai Indians lost Shikhar Dhawan when the Mumbai Indians score reached 61 run. Tendulkar again put on a good partnership for the second wicket with Saurabh Tiwary. Tiwary played really well to score 30 runs off just 24 balls. Sachin was the star of the innings. He scored 71 runs from 48 balls which included beautiful ten boundaries. Tendulkar guided his team to victory with 9 balls remaining. For Kolkata, Ishant Sharma picked 2 wickets but gave away 44 runs in his 4 overs.
