IPL 2010 Rajasthan Royals vs. Kolkata Knight Riders (Match 13) result.

Rajasthan Royals made their first victory in IPL 2010 by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by 34 runs. After winning the toss, Shane Warne had decided to bat first. Abhishek Jhunjhunwala batted wonderfully for Rajasthan and helped them to set a good target for the Kolkata Knight Riders, which they seemed difficult to achieve.

Rajasthan didn’t have the start they wanted. They lost their first wicket in the very first ball of the match. Thereafter, they gained momentum by some good hitting by Faiz Fazal. He hit boundaries around the park without any fear. When he got out, he had made 31 runs with the help of 6 boundaries. Yousuf Pathan, after his century in the first match, failed again. Thereafter, Adam Voges had taken the whole control on him and helped Rajasthan to post 168 runs on the board.

Kolkata Knight Riders has to chase a reasonable target. They tried to build partnerships. Kolkata was always lagging behind the required run rate. Everyone tried to build base. Thus at the end they had wickets in hand but no balls. Shane Warne has proved again that he is a thinking captain by bringing Yousuf early in the innings. Yousuf was not so impressive with the bat, but he compensated it by taking 2 important wickets of Manoj Tiwary and Brad Hodge. Saurav Ganguly made a well paced 33 runs. Everyone contributed to the Kolkata’s score but they took lot of time. There were situations when the required run rate went pass 12 runs. In the end Kolkata only managed to score 134 runs with the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs.

• Rajasthan Royals- 168/7 in 20 overs.
• Kolkata Knight Riders- 134/5 in 20 wickets.
• Rajasthan Royals won the match by 34 runs.
