IPL 2010 Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Chennai Super Kings (Match 18) result.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the 18th match of IPL 2010 against Chennai Super Kings by 36 runs. After winning the toss Suresh Raina decided to field first. Robin Uthappa was declared Man of the Match Award for his blistering performance.

The Chennai bowlers bowled really well at the early stage. They got rid of Kallis when he was standing at 17. They managed to slow down the scoring rate to nearly a run a ball. But some brilliant batting by Robin Uthappa destroyed all the hopes of Chennai Super Kings. Uthappa scored a blistering innings of 68 runs off just 38 balls. Chennai bowlers restricted Bangalore till the 15th over by not giving any sixes and the run rate was nearly six per over. But Uthappa was on a mission and after the 15th over it was raining sixes. Uthappa hit six sixes in his innings and one went to 106 m, the longest six of the tournament. Balaji bowled the 19th over for Chennai Super Kings and Uthappa hit 3 sixes and a four and scored 24 runs of the over. In the end Royal Challengers scored 171 runs with the loss of 5 wickets.

Chennai Super Kings might had thought that it can be chased at the same time Bangalore was in good confident to defend it. No one really tried to build partnership for Chennai. Everyone went after the big shots and lost their wickets at regular intervals. Bangalore’s bowling was exceptional. Anil Kumble was brilliant like always and just gave away 14 runs in his four overs. He changed his bowlers at right time and brought himself at the 5th which turned the Chennai Super Kings down in the match. They were always lagging behind the required run-rate and were never in the chase. In the end they just reached 135 run mark with the loss of seven wickets. Vinay Kumar took 4 wickets in the match but was a bit expensive. With this win Royal Challengers Bangalore reached the top spot in the IPL 2010 with 8 points.
