KKR v/s DC match 1 result.

This match was a great start to this great event. Kolkata Knight Riders have won the inaugural match of the IPL season 3 by defeating the defending champion Deccan Chargers by 11 runs.

Deccan Chargers after winning the toss elected to field first. Adam Gilchrist’s choice to field first turned out to be a good decision when Chaminda Vaas in his first over scalped two important wickets of the Knight Riders. It was a moment of success for Deccan Chargers. But suddenly Knight Riders felt relieved when Brad Hodge had started some fireworks. But it didn’t last long. At the half time of the first innings, Knight Riders just managed to score around 5.7 runs per over. But the Deccan Chargers had managed to take 4 important wickets of Knight Riders.

When Angelo Mathews and Owaish Shah joined at the crease, no one would have thought that the game would turn around for Knight Riders. In the next ten overs, these two batsmen managed to score 104 runs without giving a relief for the defending champions. Thus Knight Riders managed to score 161 runs with the loss of 4 wickets, which no one would have imagined them to score. It was a good total in a twenty 20 match.

When Deccan Chargers started their batting, they might have thought that it would be a nice batting track. But Charl Langeveldt proved that it is wrong by taking the edge of Gilchrist’s bat. But Brad Hodge at second slip was not able to hold on to one of the toughest chance. There was several such incidents when the ball went passed the Knight Rider fielders. Gilchrist was again dropped by Charl Langeveldt when seem to be going good.

But Gilchrist and VVS Laxman gave a good start to the Deccan Chargers as they managed to score around 8 runs per over at the half stage of the game. But then again Knight Riders had turned the match after the half stage. They scalped two quick wickets and that too of the important batsmen’s in their lineup. Suddenly the game turned around as Knight Riders managed to take wickets at regular interval and thus reducing their run rate.

At the end, Deccan Chargers managed to score 150 runs with the loss of seven wickets in twenty overs which was 11 run shorter than the score made by Knight Riders. As a fan of Kolkata Knight Rider, I am very happy that they had made a good start in this 45 day event. And at the end the score board looked like this..

• Kolkata Knight Riders won by 11 runs
• KKR Score: 161/4 in 20 Overs
• DC Score: 150/7 in 20 Overs
