IPL 2010 Kolkata Knight Riders vs. Delhi Daredevils (Match 39) result
Ganguly and Gayle again put on a good opening partnership for Kolkata Knight Riders. At the end of ten overs, Kolkata reached 88 without losing a wicket. Chris Gayle was in tremendous form and scored 40 off just 21 balls. Ganguly too followed Gayle. McCullum played his first game in this season but failed to make an impression. In the 16th over Kolkata reached 130 for the loss of 3 wickets. Tiwary and Mathews provided momentum to the scoring and made a good unbeaten fourth wicket partnership of 70 in just 41 deliveries. With the help of Ganguly’s fifty and Mathews hard hitting at the end made sure that Kolkata have a fighting total.
Kolkata certainly had to defend this total in order to dream their first semi final in IPL. Kolkata almost lost the match in the beginning stage as Sehwag and Gambhir put on a 99 run partnership. At that time Delhi just needed 48 off 32 balls. Sehwag and Gambhir fell in quick succession and it was the turning point in this interesting game. Wickets started falling at regular intervals. Dinesh Karthik too fell without contributing much to the scoreboard. By the time Delhi almost lost the match and needed 30 off 10 deliveries. It was a task big for tale enders. Delhi innings ended at 167. It was Saurav Ganguly who turned the game around for them and proved again that he is a good captain.
• Kolkata Knight Riders- 181/3 in 20 overs.
• Delhi Daredevils- 167/8 in 20 overs.
