IPL 2010 Mumbai Indians vs. Chennai Super Kings (Match 37) result

Chennai Super Kings won the 37th match of the IPL 2010 by defeating Mumbai Indians by 24 runs. This is only the second loss Mumbai have faced in this edition of IPL. Mumbai still leads the point tables with seven wins in their nine matches. With this win Chennai have ten points under their belt while Mumbai have fourteen.

After winning the toss MS Dhoni decided to bat first. Murali Vijay, the inform batsmen found it difficult to go on and was dismissed at 14. Hayden too had a slow start. It was Raina who shifted the momentum of the game. Raina scored 23 off just 18 balls with the help of two fours and a huge six. Raina was dismissed by Bravo, whom he hit the ball for a six. MS Dhoni was the next batsmen arrived at the crease and started with a boundary. He scored quick 31 runs by hitting four powerful boundaries. It was the fourteenth over from Pollard that turned the match away from Chennai. He took the wickets of MS Dhoni and Hayden in two successive deliveries. Some good batting in the end by Badrinath helped Chennai to pass the 160 run mark and ended their innings with 165 runs on the board.

Shikhar Dhawan and Sachin Tendulkar opened the innings for Mumbai. Shikhar Dhawan hit too good looking boundaries before being bowled by Thushara. Shikhar Dhawan scored 16 runs off 18 balls. Sachin Tendulkar at the other end again proved worth for Mumbai Indians. He scored 45 runs off 35 balls and hit six good boundaries. Sachin always ran short of partners at the other end. Tiwary managed to score 14 runs and apart from him no other middle order batsmen scored above six run mark. Harbhajan Singh tried his level best to help Mumbai. Harbhajan scored 33 runs off just 23 balls. He hit two boundaries and three sixes. Apart from his tally to the sixes, no other batsmen even hit a single one. Spinners bowled really well for Chennai Super Kings. Mumbai ended their innings at 141 with the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs.
