Kumar Sangakkara was declared as the Man of the Match for his brilliant batting performance and captaincy.
After winning the toss Mumbai opted to bat first. They didn’t have the start they really thought. Shikhar Dhawan fell to Irfan Pathan on the first over of the match. Ambatti Rayudu was promoted up to the third position and hit the ball around the park without any fear. He scored a quick 33 off just 18 balls. Sachin was slow at other end. Sangakkara brought Piyush Chawla at the right time and he dismissed good looking Ambatti Rayudu in his first over. Piyush Chawla again brought some spirit to the Kings XI when he dismissed Sachin. Sachin scored 29 runs off 25 deliveries. Apart from these two players and Duminy no one really contributed to the scoring. They lost wickets at regular intervals and only managed to score 154 in their 20 overs.
Kings XI Punjab thought it is not a big target to achieve. They started well as their openers Bharath and Jayawardene added 41 for the first wicket in just 4.1 overs. Jayawardene scored a blistering 31 off just 18 deliveries and hit seven boundaries in this innings. Bharath on the other end was also positive as he scored 33 off 27 deliveries. Yuvraj Singh again disappointed Kings XI Punjab. He scored 15 off 21 deliveries. Sangakkara on the other hand was on full confident of winning the match. He scored 56 off 42 deliveries. This innings contained six boundaries and one six. On his wickets Irfan Pathan and Sodhi guided Kings XI Punjab to another win. They reached the target with four deliveries remaining in the match.
