IPL 2010 Rajasthan Royals vs. Kings XI Punjab (Match 38) result

Rajasthan Royals made a thumping victory over Kings XI Punjab by nine wickets. After winning the toss Kings XI Punjab decided to bat first. With this win Rajasthan Royals moved to the second spot in the table without considering the run-rate. Kings XI Punjab once again started their losing journey.

Kings XI Punjab again got a good start from Jayawardene and Bisla. Jayawardene continued his form from the last match and got 44 runs off just 33 balls. That inning contained 6 boundaries and 1 six. They blazed to 29 in just 3.3 overs. At this stage they lost Bisla who made 20 off just 14 deliveries. Yuvraj was on a mission against Royals bowlers as hit three sixes in quick succession and he made a good 28 off just 16 deliveries. Apart from these three players no one really contributed to the Kings scorecard. Irfan Pathan managed to score 24 but took 23 deliveries. He remained not out and Kings XI Punjab made 153 runs in their 20 overs with the loss of six wickets.

Rajasthan Royals had never lost a match in Jaipur and their openers didn’t want to change the history. Michael Lumb hit the balls around the park and made Naman Ojha a watchman at the other end. But Ojha at times helped to increase the run rate. These two put on a 109 run partnership. Everyone watching the game might have thought that Royals are going to win the match by ten wickets. But Lumb fell when he was at 83. He hit sixteen fours and two sixes in his 43 ball cameo. Yusuf Pathan was the new batsmen came into the crease and hit two sixes to score 21 runs. Naman Ojha hit the winning run for Royals and remained unbeaten at 44.
